Minneapolis Trip

Our spring fever couldn't keep us in Grand Forks any longer. We made an impromptu trip to Minneapolis over Easter break, booked a hotel Wednesday night and left Thursday afternoon, very unlike us. We stayed at a hotel right across the street from the Mall of America, so we just popped the kids in the stroller and walked over. We spent the whole day there. The morning was spent on a few rides and looking around at all the sights. Nolan and Mackenzie napped for a brief moment, so I could get some shopping in and Eric went to see American Reunion. I think he had the better deal, since the kiddos woke up about 25 minutes after he left.

Mackenzie enjoying Dora. I'm not a huge fan of Nickelodeon Universe (well the Nickelodeon characters, really). Either way the rides were fun and the kids both had fun. We were all so tired, too.
Brave girl! She was pretty worried at the start of the ride, but LOVED it.

She looks like such a little peanut next to all the other kids.
enjoying the hotel pool after a long day at the mall.

Nolan and Daddy enjoying the warm water. He shivers a lot less than she does, maybe because he's got a little more fat on his bod.

An egg hunt with the Eggerts! We were so happy they could fit us in for a quick visit on such short notice. We stopped by to see their new house and then joined them for a hunt in New Brighton. We always have so much fun when we see them and we sure do miss seeing them every week.
Grant is giving his stink eye. Mackenzie and Grant are only 3 months apart.

Easter Sunday at Grandma and Grandpa's Steele's house. Mackenzie got a new bike from the Easter bunny and 2 baskets at their house. Nolan got a new Mickey movie and 2 baskets. Lucky (spoiled) kiddos. On Saturday, Eric's aunt and uncle, Darla and Mark and their kids Aaron and Leah, stopped by the Steele's to visit for a while. We don't get to see them often since they live in Dickinson, so we were lucky to get in a few hours of visiting. Always nice to see family.

Our fun little family : )

Grandma and Grandpa Thompson came to tell the kids the Easter bunny stopped by their house with baskets for the kids, too. Wow. Pajamas and chocolate. Lucky, lucky kids.

A very happy Easter Nolan. It's either all the baskets, or the relief of being out of
the van for the weekend.

Testing out her new bike in the kitchen. It was a super windy day and I think if she would have tried it out on the sidewalk, she would have tipped over. She loves it so far and has spent a lot of time on it in the kitchen. We've had some yucky days lately, unlike the previous month. She expects to go outside for hours everyday now.

Our impromptu weekend was wonderful. It was nice to get out of town with just our family. No big plans or events, just going at our own pace. It was a lot of fun. Happy Easter everyone! The countdown to the end of the school year begins on Tuesday!
